Jesse Lee
The Jesse Lee Campus is located on 25 wooded acres in South Anchorage. Children in the residential program live in one of 4 units, called “cottages.” The cottages can host up to 9 children at a time. Currently the Jesse Lee Campus programs are exclusively for boys ages 12 - 18. Each cottage has 7 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for residents. Careful consideration and matching are done when children are asked to share bedrooms. Cottage living rooms are stocked with games, books, and movies for free time. The cottages each have their own kitchen and dining room where meals are prepared and shared family style, as well as on-site laundry rooms.
The campus offers lots of recreational activities for residents. The Benson Recreation Center has a game room and basketball / volleyball court. Outdoor facilities include a playground, community garden, basketball courts / ice rink, wooded trails, a large ball field, and a sledding hill. AK Child & Family’s Spiritual Life program maintains a sweatlodge, gazebo, and prayer garden on campus grounds, and the Sue Cole Memorial chapel in one of two staff administration buildings on campus.
Maplewood
Our Maplewood Campus is located on the east side of town nestled discreetly in a residential neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac. The campus is surrounded by municipal park areas with easy access to trails. The Maplewood Campus is licensed for girls, ages 12 - 18, and our three units provide a home-like environment for the students in our care. Each unit has a communal living room, family style kitchen and dining area, laundry facilities, dormitory style bedrooms, and access to recreation facilities which are located on our Jesse Lee campus. Every effort is made by our treatment teams to create an inviting and home-like atmosphere while maintaining a healthy and safe environment. In 2013, sixty two volunteers from the American Baptist Home Mission Society built a shared gazebo on this campus which all students can access for chapel, devotions, family visits and quiet reflection.
