Community Programs
ACS Community Programs is designed to assist students between the ages of 6-18 with emotional and behavioral problems that impair their ability to function successfully within their home, school and community.
A Case Manager works with each student and their family to coordinate, advocate and access necessary community based services and supports and enlist community providers as part of the treatment team.
Members of the team may include
- The student
- Parents / guardian
- Foster / treatment parents
- Siblings and extended family
- Therapist / social worker
- Teachers / mentors
- Coaches
- Family friends
Facilitated by the Case Manager, the treatment team works collaboratively to address the student’s treatment needs. Many of those needs are met by matching the student with appropriate community providers. In addition, At ACS we directly provide:
Case Management: Each student and their family is assigned a Case Manager who becomes a coordinator, advocate and support in the acquisition of needed treatment services whether through ACS or another service provider. These services may include medical, psychiatric, mental health, educational, vocational, social and community based supports, related assessments and post-discharge follow-up activities.
Home-Based Support: The Case Manager meets with the student and family in the family home on a regular basis to address issues. These may include communication, conflict resolution or problem-solving skills. They may also review treatment expectations and progress in both treatment and in school.
Activity Therapy: Activity therapy is available both individually and in a group setting. Individual activity therapy pairs a child with an adult Activity Therapist to work on social skills, communication, goal setting, independent living, anger management and other treatment issues. Group Activity Therapy follows a curriculum that introduces students to a variety of topics and issues that may include self-expression, community resources, initiative taking, vocational training, team building, health and fitness, social skill development and psychotherapy.
Clinical Services: A master’s level clinical therapist is available for those students and families whose needs are best met within ACS. Family, individual and sibling therapy is available at our facility or in the home.
Family Treatment Homes: Therapeutic foster care provides a temporary living situation for students so they can work on treatment issues while living in the community. Treatment parents provide a supportive family environment to assist children in their growth and development.
On-Call Services: There is a 24-hr on-call system available to help the family deal with crisis when they occur.
